About

ever since i was young, i was always fascinated with logos, commercials, packaging, ect so it makes sense I followed a few of my family members in learning a similar skill. I received my BFA IN GRAPHIC and INTERACTIVE DESIGN FROM EDINBORO UNIVERSITY (NOW PENN WEST) IN 2020 IN the BEGINNING OF THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC. THIS WILL ALWays be part of my story because we gave up so much fun and parties and tore my heart apart. So after some much needed time off, I worked for a year and a half as a custom framer which set me up for my second, but first design job as a technical illustrator/presentation designer at howard industries in march 2022. During the period between graduation and present day, i played with some rebranding ideas and creating an art agency/COLLECTIVE WITH BRANDING, PROMOTION, fashion AND MERCHANDISE capibilities TO HELP OTHERS SEE my vision. the passing of Virgil abloh in late 2021 was and always will be my main source of motivation behind this new idea/brand called designerswearblack. Fast forward to 2023, I am currently working as a graphic artist/printer operator at grimm industries which is giving me great inspiration to draw from later. my plan is to have dwb be the place for freelance work, as well as the store in which certain portfolio works will be for sale as well as special (1of1) projects and in the near future, standard merchandise line drops. My goal is to have a brick and mortar store front/company office space in the next 5-10 years.

style

my style combines photography, solid warped shapes, contrasting gradients and or colors as well as experimental typography. i take inspiration from the 20th century as well at the decades of the early 2000s, and the 2010s. Massimo vignelli, Virgil abloh and bryan rivera/travis brothers as my top 3 favorite inspirations for ideas and principle, especially vignelli and abloh. working in custom framing, technical illustration has helped me refine and aided in inspiring my design work. I’m just letting myself take it all in. -logan.
